Inspection Procedure 2: Under some circumstances, a wireless LAN device cannot communicate with the vehicle (EV remote-ECU) only (The device can communicate with another device).

cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
A wireless LAN device cannot communicate with the vehicle (EV remote-ECU) only (the device can communicate with other devices), the environment where the device is used is poor, the external antenna or the EV remote-ECU is defective.
note
  • Use the inquiry blank to confirm the environment where the wireless LAN device is used. Then attempt to communicate with the EV remote-ECU. If you find any faults, follow this procedure.
  • If any of the conditions below is satisfied, the MITSUBISHI remote control system will disable the wireless LAN communication to avoid the 12V starter battery discharge due to static current.
    1. Control at normal temperature: Will be disabled when the power supply mode of the electric motor switch remains off and the DC/DC converter remains off for at least 36 hours. If the power supply mode of the electric motor switch remains on and the DC/DC converter remains on for ten minutes, the wireless LAN communication will be enabled again. (If the DC/DC converter does not remain on for ten minutes even if the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is on, the wireless LAN communication will be disabled again)
    2. Control at low temperature: Will be disabled when the power supply mode of the electric motor switch remains at any status other than "ready" for at least 36 hours at an ambient temperature of -15°C (5°F) or less. If the power supply mode of the electric motor switch remains at ready status for ten minutes, the wireless LAN communication will be enabled again (If the DC/DC converter does not remain on for ten minutes even if the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is on, the wireless LAN communication will be disabled again).

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Environment where the wireless LAN device is used is poor
  • Antenna improperly installed
  • The EV remote-ECU may be defective (including the antenna)
  • Conditions for disabling the wireless LAN communication have been satisfied (this is a measure against the 12V starter battery discharge, and is not a malfunction).

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Check whether the cable between the EV remote-ECU and the external antenna is installed properly.
Check whether the external antenna and the cable between the EV remote-ECU and the antenna are installed properly.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Install a component properly.

STEP 2. Retest the system.
Is the check result normal?
This diagnosis is complete.
Replace the EV remote-ECU (Refer to ).
