DTC U0155: Meter CAN timeout

caution
  • If DTC No. U0155 is set, be sure to diagnose the CAN bus line.
  • Before replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
When the EV remote-ECU receives no signal from the combination meter for 2.5 seconds or more, it will set DTC No. U0155.

DTC SET CONDITION
  • The power supply mode of the electric motor switch is ON.
  • When the EV remote-ECU receives on signal from the combination meter for 2.5 seconds or more.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The CAN bus line may be defective
  • The combination meter may be defective
  • Power supply circuit to combination meter defective
  • The EV remote-ECU may be defective

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), diagnose the CAN bus line.
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect the Scan Tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Press the electric motor switch to turn on the power supply mode.
(3) Diagnose the CAN bus line.
(4) Press the electric motor switch to turn off the power supply mode.
Is the CAN bus line found to be normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting ).

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the combination meter DTC
Check if DTC is set in the combination meter.
Is the DTC set?
Diagnose the combination meter (Refer to ).
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the other system DTC.
Check if a DTC, which relates to CAN communication-linked systems below, is set.
  • DTC No. U0155: Meter CAN timeout
Is the DTC set?
Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 5.

STEP 4. Recheck for DTC.
Check again if the DTC is set in the EV remote-ECU.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Press the electric motor switch to turn the power supply mode from "OFF" to "ON."
(3) Check if DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the combination meter (Refer to ).
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction such as a poor connection or open circuit in the CAN bus lines between the combination meter and the EV remote-ECU (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

STEP 5. Recheck for DTC.
Check again if the DTC is set in the EV remote-ECU.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Press the electric motor switch to turn the power supply mode from "OFF" to "ON."
(3) Check if DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the EV remote-ECU (Refer to ).
