Code No. B2482: No detection of neutral SW

DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
When the neutral switch signal of liftgate latch is not detected, the power liftgate control unit sets DTC No. B2482.

JUDGMENT CRITERIA
When the power liftgate motor returns to the neutral position, if the neutral switch signal of liftgate latch is not detected, the power liftgate control unit sets DTC No. B2482.

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors
  • Malfunction of the power liftgate control unit
  • Malfunction of liftgate latch

DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB991223: Harness Set
  • MB992006: Extra Fine Probe
STEP 1. Neutral switch inspection.
Check the liftgate latch (refer to ).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Replace the liftgate latch.

STEP 2. Resistance measurement at liftgate latch connector (neutral switch ground line terminal).
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Measure the resistance between the liftgate latch connector (neutral switch ground line terminal) and body ground.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check of open circuit in ground line between liftgate latch connector (neutral switch terminal) and body ground.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Check of open circuit in NTL line between power liftgate control unit connector and liftgate latch connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 5. Recheck for diagnostic trouble code.
(1) Clear all the DTC set in the power liftgate control unit.
(2) Operate the power liftgate.
(3) Check whether a DTC is set in the power liftgate control unit.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the power liftgate control unit.
The diagnosis is complete.
