DTC C1707: Implausible coding data

caution
  • If there is any problem in the CAN bus lines, an incorrect DTC may be set. Prior to this diagnosis, diagnose the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C - CAN Bus Diagnostics Table ).
  • Whenever ECU is replaced, ensure that the CAN bus lines are normal.
  • When DTC No.C1707 is set in electric parking brake ECU, the DTC may also be set in ETACS-ECU. When the DTC is set in ETACS-ECU, carry out the diagnosis of the DTC for ETACS-ECU first.

DTC SET CONDITIONS
When received invalid coding data from the ETACS-ECU, this DTC is set.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The CAN bus line is defective.
  • Malfunction of ETACS-ECU coding data
  • Malfunction of ETACS-ECU
  • ETACS-ECUs have been interchanged between two vehicles.
  • Malfunction of the electric parking brake ECU
  • Electric parking brake ECUs have been interchanged between two vehicles.

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) CAN bus diagnosis.
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect the Scan Tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
(3) Diagnose the CAN bus line.
(4) Turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C - CAN Bus Diagnostics Table ). On completion, go to Step 2.

STEP 2. DTC recheck after resetting CAN bus lines.
Is DTC No.C1707 set?
Go to Step 3.
This diagnosis is complete.

STEP 3. ETACS-ECU coding data check.
Refer to GROUP 00 - Coding List .
  • Item: Auto release type for EPB
OK: Type 9
  • Item: Brake type for EPB
OK: Type 2
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Replace the ETACS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 54A - ETACS-ECU ).

STEP 4. Check whether the DTC is set again.
Check again if the DTC is set.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
(3) Turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
(4) Check if the DTC is set.
Is DTC No. C1707 set?
Replace the electric parking brake ECU (Refer to ).
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
