PROCEDURES FOR WRITING BMU LEARNING VALUE
If the BMU is replaced, follow the procedure below to save the values stored in the old BMU and then write them to the new BMU.
1.
cautionWhile the scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) is communicating with the vehicle, the electric motor switch may not be turned off and no normally. Therefore, when you turn off the electric motor switch for that communication, wait for several seconds and then turn on it again (do not turn on it immediately).
Connect the scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) to the data link connector.
2. Turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
3. Select "STV."
4. Select "BMU."
5. Select the "Special Function" from the BMU Screen.
6. Select the "Write learned value (Changed ECU)" from the Special Function Screen.
7. Select the "Learned value Read & save" from the Write learned value (Changed ECU) Screen.
8. Save the data from the Learned value Read & save Screen. If the BMU learning value cannot be saved, write the BMU learning value manual.
noteWhen the learned value file is normally saved, the "Learned value Save Complete" is displayed on the scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) Screen.
9. Turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch, and then replace the BMU.
10. Turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch without depressing the brake pedal.
11. Select the "Saved learned value writing" from the Write learned value (Changed ECU) Screen.
12. Select the saved data from the Saved learned value writing Screen to write the BMU learning value.
noteUse only the BMU learning value file saved in the Step 8. Do not use other files.
noteWhen the BMU learning value is correctly written, the "Completed" should be displayed on the scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) screen.
13. Turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch, and then disconnect the scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).

BMU LEARNING VALUE MANUAL WRITTEN
1. Check a manufactured date on the label attached on the main drive lithium-ion battery from the underbody left side.
2. Calculate how many days elapsed by subtracting the next month of the month-of-manufacture from the current month (number of months).
3.
cautionWhile the scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) is communicating with the vehicle, the electric motor switch may not be turned off and no normally. Therefore, when you turn off the electric motor switch for that communication, wait for several seconds and then turn on it again (do not turn on it immediately).
Connect the scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) to the data link connector.
4. Turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch without depressing the brake pedal, and wait for ten seconds. Then check that no diagnostic trouble code is set. If any diagnostic trouble code is set, diagnose the system.
5. Check a distance travelled (km) on the odometer, and make a note of it.
noteIf the main drive lithium-ion battery has been replaced before, subtract the distance (when the main drive lithium-ion battery was replaced) from that current distance.
6. Select "STV."
7. Select "BMU."
8. Select the "Special Function" from the BMU Screen.
9. Select the "Write learned value (Changed ECU)" from the Special Function Screen.
10. Select the "Manual writing" from the Write learned value (Changed ECU) Screen.
11. Enter the number of the months calculated at step 2 into "Sum total time back up" (number of months) on the leaned value manual writing screen.
12. Enter the distance recorded at step 5 into "Travel distance" on the leaned value manual writing screen. Then write the learned values to the new BMU.
noteIgnore the items other than "Sum total time back up" and "Travel distance" on the screen.
noteWhen the learned value is written correctly, the "Writing is done." is displayed on the scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) screen.
13. Turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
14. Measure the main drive lithium-ion battery capacity. (Refer to GROUP 54Dc, Main Drive Lithium-ion Battery Capacity Measurement ).
