DTC B241A ESL power control circuit ground
DTC B241B ESL power control circuit open

cautionWhen replacing the ECU, always check that the communication circuit is normal.

DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
B241A
  • When a short to ground occurs in the wiring harness between the electrical steering lock and KOS-ECU, KOS-ECU sets DTC B241A.
B241B
  • When an open circuit or short to power supply occurs in the wiring harness between the electrical steering lock and KOS-ECU, KOS-ECU sets DTC B241B.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
B241A
  • When a short to ground occurs in the wiring harness, KOS-ECU determines that a problem has occurred.
B241B
  • When an open circuit or short to power supply occurs in the wiring harness, KOS-ECU determines that a problem has occurred.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of the electronic steering lock
  • Malfunction of the KOS-ECU
  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Check of short to power supply, short to ground, and open circuit in PCK line between the electronic steering lock connector and the KOS-ECU connector, between the OSS-ECU connector and the KOS-ECU connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the connectors or wiring harness.

STEP 2. Voltage measurement at electronic steering lock connector (PCK line)
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage at the wiring harness-side connector.
(2) Open the driver's door.
(3) Measure the voltage at the electronic steering lock connector (PCK line) and the body ground.
(4)
OK: The voltage should measure approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Replace the electronic steering lock. Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check whether the diagnostic trouble code is set again.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch from OFF to ON.
(3) Check if the DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Replace KOS-ECU and register the ID codes (Refer to ).
Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
