DTC U0101 T/M CAN timeout

caution
  • If there is any problem in the CAN bus lines, an incorrect DTC may be set. Prior to this diagnosis, diagnose the CAN bus lines.
  • Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the CAN bus lines are normal.

OPERATION
FCM/LDW/AHB-ECU communicates with the transaxle control module via the CAN bus lines.

DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION AND TROUBLE JUDGMENT
This DTC is set when the abnormality below is detected:
  • The signal sent from the transaxle control module cannot be received for a certain period.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of the CAN bus line
  • Malfunction of the transaxle control module power supply circuit
  • Malfunction of the transaxle control module
  • Malfunction of the FCM/LDW/AHB-ECU

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), diagnose the CAN bus line.
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect the Scan Tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(3) Diagnose the CAN bus line.
(4) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Is the CAN bus line found to be normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting ).

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the other system DTC.
Check whether a transaxle control module "time-out" related DTC is set in other ECUs (Refer to GROUP 54C - CAN-Related Diagnostic Trouble Code Table ).
Is the DTC set?
Go to Step 3.
Go to Step 4.

STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the DTC again.
Check again if the DTC is set in the FCM/LDW/AHB-ECU.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
(3) Check if DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the transaxle control module (Refer to GROUP 23A - Transaxle Control Module ).
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

STEP 4.
Replace the FCM/LDW/AHB-ECU (Refer to ).
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
