Inspection Procedure 8: The microphone does not respond to your voice normally.
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the multivision display, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
 
 
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
If the microphone does not respond to your voice normally, the microphone or multivision display may be defective.
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The multivision display may be defective
  • The microphone unit may be defective
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB991223: Harness Set
  • MB992006: Extra Fine Probe
STEP 1. Check if the error message is displayed on the multivision display.
(Refer to .)
Is the error message displayed on the monitor?
: Refer to error massage (Refer to ), take necessary steps.
Go to Step 2.
 
STEP 2. Check the service data for multivision display.
Using the multivision display diagnosis mode, check if the "Communication Check" (Refer to <Up to 20 Model year>, <From 22 Model year>).

Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Go to Step 4.
 
STEP 3. Check the microphone for multivision display.
Using the multivision display diagnosis mode, check if the "Mic Check" (Refer to <Up to 20 Model year>, <From 22 Model year>).
OK: Your voice which you speak through the microphone is generated by the speaker.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 6.
Go to Step 4.
 
STEP 4. Replace the microphone unit temporarily, and check the trouble symptom.
Is the check result normal?
Replace the microphone unit (Refer to ).
Go to Step 5.
 
STEP 5. Check of short to power supply, short to ground and open circuit in SNSE, MIC+ and MIC- line between microphone unit connector and multivision display connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 6.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 6. Retest the system.
Check whether the microphone responds to your voice normally.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the multivision display (Refer to ).
