DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB991223: Harness Set
  • MB992006: Extra Fine Probe
STEP 1. Bulb check.
Check that the following bulbs are installed correctly.
  • Front dome light bulb
  • Rear dome light bulb
  • Cargo room light bulb
  • Vanity mirror light bulb
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Replace or reinstall a bulb of the front dome light, the rear dome light, the cargo room light or the vanity mirror light.

STEP 2. Check the following wiring harness.
Check the wiring harness for short circuit between the following connectors:
  • Check of short circuit in LP+1 line front dome light connector and ETACS-ECU connector.
  • Check of short circuit in LP+1 line rear dome light connector and ETACS-ECU connector.
  • Check of short circuit in LP+2 line cargo room light connector and ETACS-ECU connector.
  • Check of short circuit in LP+1 line vanity mirror light connector and ETACS-ECU connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 3. Check the following wiring harness.
Check the wiring harness for short to ground circuit between the following connectors:
  • Check of short circuit in ground line front dome light connector and body ground.
  • Check of short circuit in ground line rear dome light connector and body ground.
  • Check of short circuit in ground line cargo room light connector and body ground.
  • Check of short circuit in ground line vanity mirror light connector and body ground.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 4. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the DTC again.
Check again if DTC B1E1D is set in the ETACS-ECU.
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect Scan Tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Erase the DTC.
(3) Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
(4) Turn on the corresponding light.
(5) Check if DTC B1E1D is set.
Is the DTC set?
Go to Step 5.
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

STEP 5. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the DTC again.
Check again if DTC B1E1D is set in the ETACS-ECU.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Disconnect connector (a).
  1. Front dome light body
  2. Rear dome light body
  3. Cargo room light body
  4. Sun visor
(3) Turn on the corresponding light.
(4) Check if DTC B1E1D is set.
(5) Repeat steps (1) to (4) for parts (b) to (d) to determine a fault cause.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
Replace a defective bulb (the front dome light body, the rear dome light body, the cargo room light body or the sun visor).
