DTC C1559 Lost Communication of Wheel speed information

caution
  • If there is any problem in the CAN bus lines, an incorrect DTC may be set. Prior to this diagnosis, diagnose the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C, CAN Bus Diagnostics Table ).
  • Whenever ECU is replaced, ensure that the CAN bus lines are normal.

OPERATION
The EPS-ECU receives the wheel speed information from the ASC-ECU.

FUNCTION
Based on the wheel speed information the EPS-ECU receives, the EPS-ECU performs the control to improve the steering wheel return.

TROUBLE JUDGMENT
Check Conditions
  • Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
Judgment Criterion
  • When wheel speed information cannot be received from the ASC-ECU.
Fail Safe, Back Up Function
  • The EPS-ECU sets DTC C1559.
  • Aggravated feeling of steerage

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of CAN bus line.
  • Malfunction of ASC-ECU power supply circuit.
  • Malfunction of the ASC-ECU
  • Malfunction of the EPS-ECU

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), diagnose the CAN bus line.
Diagnose the CAN bus line.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C - CAN-Related Diagnosis Code Table ).

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the other DTC is set.
Use M.U.T.-IIISE to check that DTC U0121 is set in the other system (Refer to GROUP 54C - CAN-Related Diagnosis Code Table ).
Is the DTC set?
Go to Step 3.
Go to Step 4.

STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the DTC is set again.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
(3) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position (Engine running). Check if the DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the hydraulic unit (integrated with ASC-ECU) (Refer to GROUP 35C - Hydraulic Unit ).
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).

STEP 4. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the DTC is set again.
(1) Erase the DTC code.
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
(3) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position (Engine running).
Is the DTC set?
Replace the EPS motor (EPS-ECU). (Refer to ).
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
