DTC B2352 Antenna fail

cautionWhen replacing the ECU, always check that the communication circuit is normal.

DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
ETACS-ECU sets DTC B2352 when open or short circuit to the ground in the antenna at the key reminder switch is detected.

JUDGMENT CRITERIA
When during the transponder communication, the antenna at the key reminder switch (immobilizer antenna) malfunction is found, ETACS-ECU determines that the abnormality is present.

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of key reminder switch (open circuit of immobilizer antenna)
  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors
  • Malfunction of receiver antenna
  • Malfunction of ETACS-ECU

DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB992006: Extra fine probe
  • MB991223: Harness set
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check data list.
Check the ETACS-ECU data list.
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect Scan Tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Check the input signals from the Key reminder switch.
  • Turn the ignition switch to the OFF (key inserted) position.

OK: Normal condition is displayed.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Refer to GROUP 54A - Inspection Procedure 3: "Key reminder switch signal is not received ."

STEP 2. Resistance measurement at the receiver antenna connector (ANTP, ANTG terminal).
(1) Disconnect the connector and measure the resistance at the wiring harness side.
(2) Measure the resistance between the receiver antenna connector (ANTP terminal) and the receiver antenna connector (ANTG terminal).
OK: The resistance should be 14 ohms or less
(3) Measure the resistance between the receiver antenna connector (ANTP terminal) and the body ground.
OK: No continuity (1 kΩ or more)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check of open circuit and short to ground, in ANTP, ANTG terminal between receiver antenna connector and key reminder switch connector.
Is the check result normal?
Replace key reminder switch (Immobilizer antenna).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the DTC again.
Check again if the DTC is set.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Remove the ignition key from the cylinder and then insert the ignition key again.
(3) After 2 to 3 seconds later from inserting the key, then turn the ignition "ON".
(4) Check if the DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Replace receiver antenna. Then go to Step 5.
There is an intermittent malfunction such as poor engaged connector(s) or open circuit (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

STEP 5.
Replace ETACS-ECU (Refer to ) and register the ID codes (Refer to ).
The diagnosis is complete.
