Inspection Procedure A-2: Door(s) or a liftgate cannot be locked or unlocked by central door locking system.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
No operation of the door lock actuator or a malfunction of the liftgate lock actuator is suspected.

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of the door lock actuator
  • Malfunction of the liftgate lock actuator
  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Confirmation of the defective door lock actuator or liftgate lock actuator.
Which doors or liftgate is not locked normally?
: Go to Step 2.
: Go to Step 4.
: Go to Step 6.
: Go to Step 8.
: Go to Step 10.

STEP 2. Front door lock actuator (LH) check
Check that the front door lock actuator (LH) works normally. Refer to Door Latch Assembly Inspection .
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Replace the front door lock actuator (LH).

STEP 3. Check of short to power supply, short to ground, and open circuit in DUN, DLK1&DLK2&DLK4 line between ETACS-ECU connector and front door lock actuator (LH) connector.
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Front door lock actuator (RH) check
Check that the front door lock actuator (RH) works normally. Refer to Door Latch Assembly Inspection .
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Replace the front door lock actuator (RH).

STEP 5. Check of short to power supply, short to ground, and open circuit in DUL2, DLK1&DLK2&DLK4 line between ETACS-ECU connector and front door lock actuator (RH) connector.
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. Rear door lock actuator (LH) check
Check that the rear door lock actuator works normally. Refer to Door Latch Assembly Inspection .
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 7.
Replace the rear door lock actuator (LH).

STEP 7. Check of short to power supply, short to ground, and open circuit in DUL3, DLK3 line between ETACS-ECU connector and rear door lock actuator (LH) connector.
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 8. Rear door lock actuator (RH) check
Check that the rear door lock actuator (RH) is in good condition. Refer to Door Latch Assembly Inspection .
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 9.
Replace the rear door lock actuator (RH).

STEP 9. Check of short to power supply, short to ground, and open circuit in DUL3&DUL4, DLK3&DLK4 line between ETACS-ECU connector and rear door lock actuator (RH) connector.
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 10. liftgate lock actuator check.
Check that the liftgate lock actuator is in good condition. Refer to .
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 11.
Replace the liftgate lock actuator.

STEP 11. Resistance measurement at liftgate lock actuator connector (ground line terminal).
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Measure the resistance between the liftgate lock actuator connector (ground line terminal) and body ground.
OK: Continuity exists (2 ohms or less)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 13.
Go to Step 12.

STEP 12. Check of open circuit in ground line between liftgate lock actuator connector and body ground.
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 13. Check of open circuit in GLK line between ETACS-ECU connector and liftgate lock actuator connector.
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
