Inspection Procedure 5: The electric parking brake is engaged poorly (the vehicle moves) or the vehicle is pulled to one side or the other.
 
 
noteWhen the vehicle moves with the parking brake applied, poor road condition or vehicle condition is suspected.
 
 
OPERATION
When you pull up the electric parking brake switch with the brake pedal depressed, the parking brake will be applied (locked).
 
 
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
This trouble symptom assumes that scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) CAN bus diagnosis result is OK and no DTC is set.
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of the rear brake caliper assembly
    • Brake piston seized
    • Slide pin moves hard
    • Unevenly worn brake pad
    • Water or oil adhered to the brake disc or pad
    • Electric parking brake actuator fails
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Check the rear disc brake.
Check the rear disc brake as follows:
  • Brake pad check (Refer to GROUP 35A - On-vehicle service ).
  • Brake disc check (Refer to GROUP 35A - On-vehicle service ).
  • The rear brake calipers should work when you depress the brake pedal.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair or replace the rear brake caliper assembly (Refer to GROUP 35A - Rear Disc Brake Assembly ).
 
STEP 2. Retest the system
Is the check result normal?
: Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
: Repair or replace the electric parking brake actuator assembly (LH) (Refer to ).
: Repair or replace the electric parking brake actuator assembly (RH) (Refer to ).
