DTC P0711: Malfunction of Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor (Abnormality in transmission fluid temperature sensor function)
DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
TCM conducts fault detection by monitoring the terminal voltage of the transmission fluid temperature sensor.
DESCRIPTIONS OF MONITOR METHODS
The transmission fluid temperature does not reach 20°C (68°F) after the vehicle is driven for at least 15 minutes under the following condition.
- Selector lever position: D.
- Vehicle speed: 50 km/h (32 mph) or more.
- Accelerator opening angle: 12.5 % or more.
- Engine speed: 450 r/min or more.
MONITOR EXECUTION
- Transmission range switch position: D.
- Vehicle speed: 50 km/h (32 mph) or more.
- Accelerator opening angle: 12.5 % or more.
- Engine speed: 450 r/min or more.
MONITOR EXECUTION CONDITIONS (OTHER MONITOR AND SENSOR)
Other Monitor (There is no temporary DTC set in memory for the item monitored below)
- P0842, P0843: Malfunction of the secondary pressure sensor
- P0847, P0848: Malfunction of primary pressure sensor
- P2720, P2721: Malfunction of select pressure solenoid valve
Sensor (The sensor below is determined to be normal)

- Primary pressure sensor
LOGIC FLOW CHARTS (Monitor Sequence)
DTC SET CONDITIONS
Check Conditions
- Transmission fluid temperature: Less than 20°C (68°F).
- Transmission range switch position: D.
- Vehicle speed: 50 km/h (32 mph) or more.
- Accelerator pedal position sensor voltage: 1.19 V or more.
- Engine speed: 450 r/min or more.
Judgment Criteria
- The transmission fluid temperature does not rise to 20°C (68°F) within the specified period (200 - 1,000 seconds) after the engine is started.
OBD-II DRIVE CYCLE PATTERN
Warm up the engine in order to increase the transmission fluid temperature: 20 °C (68°F) or more.
PROBABLE CAUSES
- Malfunction of transmission fluid temperature sensor
- Damaged wiring harness and connectors
- Malfunction of TCM
