DTC C2271: Steering Wheel Sensor Signal (Invalid)

caution
  • When the column switch assembly (Integrated with steering wheel sensor) is replaced, calibrate the steering wheel sensor (Refer to GROUP 35C - On-vehicle Service).
  • When the ACC/FCM-ECU is replaced, calibrate the radar (refer to ).

OPERATION
The ACC/FCM-ECU receives steering wheel angle signal from the steering wheel sensor.

DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE SET CONDITION
Check Conditions
  • More than 2 seconds have passed since the ignition switch was turned to "ON" position.
  • ACC/FCM-ECU power voltage is more than 9 volts and is less than 18 volts.
Judgment Criterion
  • An invalid steering wheel angle signal received from the steering wheel sensor.
noteA DTC is not set as a historic fault.

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of the column switch assembly (Integrated with steering wheel sensor)
  • Malfunction of the ACC/FCM-ECU

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Check column switch assembly for correct mounting condition.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair.

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the data list.
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect the Scan Tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(3) Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the data list (Refer to data list reference table ).
  • Item No.11: Steering wheel angle
OK:
  • Steering wheel neutral position (driving straight ahead): -5 to 5 degree
  • A turn of the steering wheel: Approximately equal to the amount the wheel will turn.
(4) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Replace the column switch assembly (Integrated with steering wheel sensor) (Refer to GROUP 35C - Steering Wheel Sensor ).

STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the DTC is set again.
Is DTC C2271 set?
Replace the ACC/FCM-ECU (Refer to ).
It can be assumed that this malfunction is intermittent (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
