REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
 
 
caution
  • To remove the driver air bag module, refer to GROUP 52B - Service Precautions and Driver Air Bag Module and Clock Spring .
Pre-removal operation
  • Steering wheel at straight-ahead position check
  • Removal of steering column lower cover, steering column upper cover (Refer to GROUP 37 - Steering Column Shaft Assembly )
  • Removal of steering wheel assembly (Refer to GROUP 52B - Driver’s Air Bag Module and Clock Spring )
Post-installation operation
  • Installation of steering wheel assembly (Refer to GROUP 52B - Driver’s Air Bag Module and Clock Spring )
  • Installation of steering column lower cover, steering column upper cover (Refer to GROUP 37 - Steering Column Shaft Assembly )
  • Steering wheel at straight-ahead position check

REMOVAL SERVICE POINTS
 
 
<<A>> COLUMN SWITCH ASSEMBLY REMOVAL
1. Using a wrench or similar tool, pinch and lift the band clump pin shown in the figure.
2. Unclip the column switch assembly (five clips).
3. Remove the column switch assembly by pulling it.
 
 
 
 
INSTALLATION SERVICE POINT
 
 
>>A<< COLUMN SWITCH ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION
When installing a new column switch
  • With the retaining pin of the band clump pin installed, install the column switch by securely fitting the claw on the column switch into the groove on the column shaft. Then, remove the retaining pin and release the band clump pin.
When installing the removed column switch
  1. Using a wrench or similar tool, pinch and lift the band clump pin shown in the figure.
  2. Install the column switch by securely fitting the claw on the column switch into the groove on the column shaft.
  3. Release the band clump pin.
