  • During quick charging/external power supply
Judgment Criterion
  • The CAN signal from the quick charger/external power supply equipment can not be received for 9 seconds or more.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of the CAN bus line
  • Malfunction of the charge station communication module power supply circuit
  • Malfunction of the charge station communication module
  • Malfunction of the On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter
noteThe DTC No. U1D45-87 may be set due to the following external factor.
• Malfunction of the quick charger or external power supply facility (including connector connection failure)

DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB992744: Vehicle communication interface-Lite (V.C.I.-Lite)
  • MB992745: V.C.I.-Lite main harness A
  • MB992747: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable short
  • MB992748: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable long
  • MB991223: Wiring harness set
  • MB992006: Extra fine probe
1.M.U.T.-IIISE CAN bus diagnosis
Use M.U.T.-IIISE to diagnose the CAN bus line (Refer to CAN Fundamental - Trouble Diagnosis Flow Chart Trouble Diagnosis Flow Chart).
Is the check result normal?
Repair the CAN bus line.

2.Charge station communication module terminating resistance measurement
(1) Disconnect the charge station communication module, and measure at the charge station communication modules side.
(2) Check the continuity between the following terminals.
  • Continuity between the charge station communication module connector (No. 13 terminal) and charge station communication module connector (No. 1 terminal)
OK: 120 ± 20 Ω
Is the check result normal?
Replace the charge station communication module.

3.CAN bus line check (short to ground)
(1) Disconnect the charge station communication module connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Check the following wiring harness for continuity.
  • Continuity between the charge station communication module connector (No. 13 terminal) and charge station communication module connector (No. 1 terminal)
  • Continuity between the charge station communication module connector (No. 13 terminal) and body ground
  • Continuity between the charge station communication module connector (No. 1 terminal) and body ground
OK: No continuity
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness, or replace the EV home & quick charger cable (Refer to EV HOME & QUICK CHARGER CABLE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION) .

4.CAN bus line check (short to power supply)
(1) Disconnect the charge station communication module, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON (READY indicator: OFF).
(3) Measure the voltage between the following terminals.
  • Voltage between the charge station communication module connector (No. 13 terminal) and body ground
  • Voltage between the charge station communication module connector (No. 1 terminal) and body ground
OK: 4.0 V or less
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness, or replace the EV home & quick charger cable (Refer to EV HOME & QUICK CHARGER CABLE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION) .

5.CAN bus line check (open circuit)
(1) Check the following wiring harness for continuity.
  • Continuity between the charge station communication module connector (No. 13 terminal) and quick charge port connector (No. 8 terminal)
  • Continuity between the charge station communication module connector (No. 1 terminal) and quick charge port connector (No. 9 terminal)
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness, or replace the EV home & quick charger cable (Refer to EV HOME & QUICK CHARGER CABLE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION) .

6.Check whether the DTC is set again.
(1) Erase the set DTC.
(2) Charge the drive battery by using the quick charger (external power supply equipment) other than the defective one.
(3) Check whether the DTC is set again.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the charge station communication module. Then,
Ask the user to inspect the quick charger/external power supply equipment.

7.Check whether the DTC is set again.
(1) Erase the set DTC.
(2) Perform quick charging (external power supplly).
(3) Check whether the DTC is set again.
Is the DTC set?
Repalce the On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter (Refer to ON BOARD CHARGER (OBC) &DC-DC CONVERTER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION).
The procedure is complete.
