COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
When the EV charger lid cannot be opened by pushing it, the EV charger lid push detection switch, EV charger lid open sensor, EV charger lid lock release actuator or PHEV-ECU is suspected.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors
  • Malfunction of the EV charger lid push detection switch system
  • Malfunction of the EV charger lid open sensor system
  • Malfunction of the EV charger lid lock release actuator system
  • Malfunction of the PHEV-ECU
cautionBefore the diagnosis, read the owner's manual to check the open condition of the EV charger lid in advance.

DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB992744: Vehicle communication interface-Lite (V.C.I.-Lite)
  • MB992745: V.C.I.-Lite main harness A
  • MB992747: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable short

1.M.U.T.-IIISE data list
Check the following PHEV-ECU data list.
  • Item No. 530: Charge port Lid open/close Status signal
    Check conditionNormal condition
When the EV charger lid is closedOFF
Is the check result normal?
Carry out the PHEV-ECU input signal procedure No. 6 "EV charger lid open sensor system" (Refer to EV charger lid open sensor system).

2.M.U.T.-IIISE data list
Check the following PHEV-ECU data list.
  • Item No. 550: Charge port Lid Push Switch signal
    Check conditionNormal condition
When the EV charger lid is pushedON
    Other than aboveOFF
Is the check result normal?
Carry out the PHEV-ECU input signal procedure No. 7 "EV charger lid push detection switch system" (Refer to EV charger lid push detection switch system).

3.Check of open circuit in ground line between EV charger lid lock release actuator and body ground
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

4.Check of short to ground circuit and open circuit in CLL1 line between PHEV-ECU and EV charger lid lock release actuator
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

5.Retest the system.
Perform the following special function item of PHEV-ECU.
  • Item No. 90: Control signal 1 for Charge port Lid Unlock Actuator
Does the trouble symptom persist?
Replace the EV charger lid lock release actuator (Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION), Then go to .
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to General Information - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS).

6.Retest the system.
Does the trouble symptom persist?
Replace the PHEV-ECU (Refer to PHEV-ECU REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION).
The procedure is complete.
