caution | While the scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE) is communicating with the vehicle, the electric motor switch may not be turned off and no normally. Therefore, when you turn off the electric motor switch for that communication, wait for several seconds and then turn on it again (do not turn on it immediately). |
3. Set the timing light to the wiring harness of the No. 4 ignition coil.
4. Select BMU data list item No. 1 on the scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE) to measure Charge state (control). If the charge state (control) is less than 35 %, charge so that the charge state (control) can become 35 % or more.
6. Select engine actuator test item No. 11 on the scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE), and set the ignition timing to the basic ignition timing.
7. Check that basic ignition timing is within the standard value.Standard value: 5° BTDC ± 3°
8. If the basic ignition timing is outside the standard value, inspect the MFI system (Refer to Multiport Fuel Injection (MFI) - Multiport Fuel Injection (MFI) Diagnosis, Symptom Chart SYMPTOM CHART). caution | If the test is not cancelled, a forced driving will continue for 27 minutes. Driving under this condition may damage the engine. |
9. Cancel the engine actuator test item No. 40, Basic ignition timing set mode, on the scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE).
10. Check that ignition timing is at the standard value.Standard value: approximately 36°BTDC
note | - The ignition timing may fluctuate within ± 7 degrees. This is normal.
- In higher altitude, the ignition timing is more advanced than the standard value by approximately 5 degrees.
- Wait till approximately 1 minute passes after the engine started, and check the ignition timing when the engine stabilized.

11. Remove the timing light.
12. Turn the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF and then disconnect the scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE).
