REMOVAL

1. Disconnect battery cable from negative terminal. Refer to Removal and Installation.
2. Remove drive belt. Refer to Removal and Installation.
3. Remove internal heat exchanger pipe. Refer to Removal and Installation.
4. Remove washer tank inlet. Refer to Removal and Installation.
5. Remove low pressure flexible hose. Refer to Removal and Installation.
6. Remove harness bracket mounting bolt .
: Vehicle front
7. Remove “B” terminal mounting nut , and then disconnect “B” terminal .
: Vehicle front
8. Disconnect generator harness connector .
9. Remove generator mounting bolt (upper).
10. Completely loosen generator mounting bolt (lower), and pull it out until bolt head is in contact with side member. And then, remove generator by pulling it forward.
noteGenerator can be removed together with bolts by pulling it forward and using generator bracket bolt hole cutout.
11. Remove generator upward from vehicle.

INSTALLATION
Note the following items, and then install in the reverse order of removal.
caution
  • Temporarily tighten generator bolts in order from the lower side to the upper side, and then tighten them in order from the upper side to the lower side.
For generator, the front side (pulley side) surface is the reference surface. Fit the reference surface to generator mounting part, and then tighten bolts.
  • Be careful to tighten “B” terminal nut to the specified torque.
  • Install generator, and check tension of belt. Refer to Inspection.
  • For this model (with 12V battery current sensor models), energy management system that controls power generation voltage of generator has been adopted. Therefore, energy management system operation inspection should be performed after replacing generator, and then make sure that the system operates normally. Refer to Work Flow (With EXP-800 NI or GR8-1200 NI) or Work Flow (Without EXP-800 NI or GR8-1200 NI).
12V Battery current sensor is installed to 12V battery cable at negative terminal.
