Power liftgate OPEN FUNCTION (WITHOUT Power liftgate SYSTEM MODELS)

When the BCM detects that power liftgate opener switch is pressed, then Keyless operation key unit transmits the request signal to the Keyless operation key. And then, check that the Keyless operation key is near the power liftgate.
If the Keyless operation key is within the outside key antenna detection area, it receives the request signal and transmits the key ID signal to the Keyless operation key unit via remote keyless entry receiver.
Keyless operation key unit receives the key ID signal and compares it with the registered key ID to the vehicle.
If the verification result is OK, BCM unlock and opens power liftgate.

Power liftgate OPEN FUNCTION (WITH Power liftgate SYSTEM MODELS)

When the BCM detects that power liftgate opener switch is pressed, then Keyless operation key unit transmits the request signal to the Keyless operation key. And then, check that the Keyless operation key is near the power liftgate.
If the Keyless operation key is within the outside key antenna detection area, it receives the request signal and transmits the key ID signal to the Keyless operation key unit via remote keyless entry receiver.
Keyless operation key unit receives the key ID signal and compares it with the registered key ID.
If the verification result is OK, Keyless operation key unit transmits the power liftgate open request signal to automatic power liftgate control unit via CAN communication.
Automatic power liftgate control unit transmits power liftgate open request signal to power liftgate lock assembly and power liftgate is open.
When the power liftgate is open, automatic power liftgate system performs waiting operation for next power liftgate close operation.
The operation of then power liftgate open is the same as the automatic power liftgate system, refer to System Description.

OPERATION CONDITION

If the following conditions are satisfied, the power liftgate can be opened.

Power liftgate opener switch operation	Operation condition
Open	All doors: LOCK Keyless operation key is within outside key antenna (rear bumper) detection area^*

^*: Even with a registered Keyless operation key remaining inside the vehicle, power liftgate can be opened from outside of the vehicle with a spare Keyless operation key as long as key IDs are different.

OUTSIDE KEY ANTENNA DETECTION AREA

The outside key antenna detection area of power liftgate open function is in the range of approximately 0.7 m (27.56 in) surrounding power liftgate opener switch

. However, this operating range depends on the ambient conditions.
