DTC B1E1F Trunklight Control Overload or Short Circuit
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
 
 
TROUBLE JUDGMENT
If the luggage compartment light does not come on, the ETACS-ECU will set DTC No. B1E1F.
 
 
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
DTC No. B1E1F will be set if the ETACS-ECU detects a short between itself and the luggage compartment light.
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The luggage compartment light bulb may be defective
  • The luggage compartment light body may be defective
  • The wiring harness or connectors may have loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector
  • The ETACS-ECU may be defective
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB991223: Harness Set
  • MB992006: Extra Fine Probe
STEP 1. Bulb check
Is the luggage compartment light bulb installed correctly?
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Replace or reinstall the luggage compartment light bulb.
 
STEP 2. Check ETACS-ECU connector C-413, luggage compartment light connector D-11 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.
Is ETACS-ECU connector C-413, luggage compartment light connector D-11 in good condition?
Go to Step 3.
Repair or replace the damaged component(s). Refer to GROUP 00E, Harness Connector Inspection .
 
STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between luggage compartment light connector D-11 (terminal 3) and ETACS-ECU connector C-413 (terminal 3).
  • Check the output line for short circuit.
Is the wiring harness between luggage compartment light connector D-11 (terminal 3) and ETACS-ECU connector C-413 (terminal 3) in good condition?
Go to Step 4.
The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary.
 
STEP 4. Using scan tool MB991958, check whether the DTC is set again.
Check again if DTC No.B1E1F is set in the ETACS-ECU.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Turn on the luggage compartment light.
(3) Check whether DTC No.B1E1F is set.
Is the DTC set?
Go to Step 5.
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
 
STEP 5. Using scan tool MB991958, check whether the DTC is set again.
Check again if DTC No.B1E1F is set in the ETACS-ECU.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Disconnect the luggage compartment light connector.
(3) Turn on the luggage compartment light.
(4) Check whether DTC No.B1E1F is set.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
Replace the luggage compartment light body.
