STEP 1. Using scan tool MB991958, check data list.
Check the ETACS-ECU service data.(1) caution | To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958. |
Connect scan tool MB991958. Refer to "How to connect the Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III)
."
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
(3) Check the ETACS data list.- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF (key inserted) position.

Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2. Refer to GROUP 54A, Inspection Procedure 3: ETACS-ECU does not receive any signal from the key reminder switch .
STEP 2. Check wireless control module connector C-09 and key reminder switch connector C-307 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.
STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between wireless control module connector C-09 (terminal No.1, 9) and key reminder switch connector C-307 (terminal No.7, 3).
STEP 4. Recheck for diagnostic trouble code.
Check again if the DTC is set to the WCM.(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
(3) Check if DTC is set.
(4) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Is the DTC set?
Replace WCM and register the ID codes (Refer to ). The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
