DTC P2765: Turbine Speed Sensor Malfunction

TURBINE SPEED SENSOR SYSTEM CIRCUIT
Refer to .

DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
TCM determines that malfunction is present for turbine speed.

DESCRIPTIONS OF MONITOR METHODS
If the following conditions are met after it is detected that DTC P0705 has not been output, the selector lever position is other than P or N, the engine speed is less than 3,500 r/min, or the primary pulley speed is less than 3,500 r/min.
  • When the primary pulley speed is 1,000 r/min or more and the state of the turbine speed being 150 r/min or less continues for 5 seconds
  • When the turbine speed drops rapidly from 1,000 r/min or more to 300 r/min or less and that low speed state continues for 0.5 seconds

MONITOR EXECUTION
  • Continuous

DTC SET CONDITIONS
Check Conditions <Input Rationality-Low (Open/Low revolution)>
  • Voltage of battery: 9 volts or more.
  • Voltage of battery: 16 volts or less.
  • Transmission range switch position: D.
  • Accelerator pedal position sensor voltage: 1.37 volts or more.
  • Primary pulley speed: 1,000 r/min or more.
Check Conditions <Input Open Circuit>
  • Voltage of battery: 9 volts or more.
  • Voltage of battery: 16 volts or less.
  • Transmission range switch position: D.
  • Accelerator pedal position sensor voltage: 1.37 volts or more.
  • Turbine speed at 10 millisecond before: 1,000 r/min or more.
Judgment Criteria <Input Rationality-Low (Open/Low revolution)>
  • Turbine speed [Primary pulley speed: 1,000 r/min or more]: Less than 150 r/min. (5 seconds)
Judgment Criteria <Input Open Circuit>
  • Turbine speed [Turbine speed at 10 millisecond before: 1,000 r/min or more]: 300 r/min or less. (0.5 second)

OBD-II DRIVE CYCLE PATTERN
Transmission range: D (Drive the vehicle for 10 seconds or more while the accelerator opening angle is 20% or more)

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of turbine speed sensor
  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors
  • Malfunction of TCM

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. M.U.T.-III diagnostic trouble code.
Are other diagnostic trouble codes set?
Carry out the appropriate troubleshooting.
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the following connector:
  • A-16 intermediate connector
  • B-120 CVT assembly connector
  • C-130 TCM connector
Check the terminals for a contact status problem and internal short circuit.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the connector concerned.

STEP 3. Check for open circuit and short to ground in wiring harness between the CVT assembly connector and the TCM connector.
  • Between B-120 CVT assembly connector (terminal No. 15) and C-130 TCM connector (terminal No. 49)
  • Between B-120 CVT assembly connector (terminal No. 20) and C-130 TCM connector (terminal No. 38)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 4. Check for open circuit in wiring harness between the CVT assembly connector and the TCM connector.
Between B-120 CVT assembly connector (terminal No. 14) and C-130 TCM connector (terminal No. 48)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 5. Diagnostic trouble code recheck
Is the diagnostic trouble code set?
Go to Step 6.
Intermittent malfunction

STEP 6. Turbine speed sensor check
Disassemble the CVT and visually check the tip of the sensor for foreign materials or damage.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 7.
Repair or replace.

STEP 7. Check for open circuit or short to ground in wiring harness between the CVT assembly connector and the turbine speed sensor connector.
Is the check result normal?
After replacing the turbine speed sensor, go to Step 8.
Replace the valve body harness.

STEP 8. Symptom recheck after erasing diagnostic trouble code
Is the diagnostic trouble code set?
Replace the TCM.
The inspection is complete.
