DTC P160C: Quick charge connector connection circuit signal fail

cautionWhenever ECU is replaced, ensure that the CAN bus lines are normal.

TROUBLE JUDGMENT
The quick charger connection signal circuit fails when the quick charging connector is connected.
note
  • If the DTCs are set only when you use a certain quick charger/external power supply equipment, the quick charger/external power supply equipment may be faulty.

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Damaged harness or connector.
  • Malfunction of quick charger.
  • Malfunction of the external power supply equipment
  • Malfunction of the PHEV-ECU.

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the data list. <PHEV-ECU>
Check that the following data list display contents are normal (Refer to ).
Data list
  • Item No.325: Quick charger connecting signal voltage (corrected)
OK: Approximately 2.6 - 3.1 V with the power supply mode of the electric motor switch turned on (READY operation)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the DTC is set again.
noteCharge the battery by using the quick charger/external power supply equipment other than the defective one.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Perform quick charging.
(3) Check if the DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the PHEV-ECU (Refer to ).
Ask the user to inspect the quick charger or external power supply equipment.

STEP 3. Check the signal line for short circuit to power supply (PHEV-ECU connector and quick charging connector).
(1) Disconnect the C-41 PHEV-ECU connector and measure at the harness connector side.
(2) Measure the resistance between PHEV-ECU connector terminal CNTF and the other than terminal CNTF.
OK: No continuity
(3) Turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
(4) Measure the voltage between the PHEV-ECU connector (terminal CNTF) and body ground.
OK: 0 V
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Repair the connector or wiring harness.

STEP 4.
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
