INSPECTION PROCEDURE 25: The charging light flashes during the READY indicator light on (travelable mode) status although the charging connector is not connected.
 
 
 
 
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
The system could not determine that the quick-charging contactor has melt stuck as he charger-side power supply has been shut down during the quick charging.
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Power supply to the charger shut down during a quick charging.
  • Malfunction of the PHEV-ECU
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Retest the system.
Does the charging light flash when the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is turned ON to achieve the READY status?
Does the charging light flash?
Go to Step 2.
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
 
STEP 2. Check the trouble symptom after the battery has been charged quickly or the system has been energized by an external source.
(1) Connect a quick charging connector to the quick charging port. Then turn ON the power supply mode of the electric motor switch or connect a charging connector of the external source to the quick-charging port to charge the battery, and then stop the charging in a normal way.
(2) Does the charging light flash when the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is turned ON to achieve the READY status?
Does the charging light flash?
Replace the PHEV-ECU (Refer to ). Then go to Step 3.
The procedure is complete.
 
STEP 3. Retest the system.
Does the charging light flash when the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is turned ON to achieve the READY status again?
Does the charging light flash?
Go to Step 2.
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
