INSPECTION PROCEDURE 8: Quick charging is impossible
 
 
cautionThe quick charging is not permitted when a cell temperature is -25°C or less.
 
 
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
The PHEV-ECU is suspected in the following cases; the charging indicator does not flash with a charging connector (gun) connected.
 
 
TROUBLE JUDGMENT
  • Malfunction of the quick charger
  • Malfunction of the external power supply device.
  • Damaged harness or connector
  • Malfunction of the PHEV-ECU
 
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools
  • MB991223: Wiring harness set
  • MB992006: Extra fine probe
STEP 1. External power supply device check.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair or replace the external power supply device. Then go to Step 2.
 
STEP 2. Check quick charger connector.
(1) Check whether the quick charging connector is connected securely.
(2) Check that the water drain hole on the quick charging connector is not interrupted.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the connector. Then go to Step 4.
 
STEP 3. Retest the system.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
 
STEP 4. Check the wiring harness.
(1) Check for in CNTF line between the quick charger connector and the PHEV-ECU connector
(2) Check for ground line between the quick charger connector (terminal No.3) and the body ground.
(3) Check for CH+B line between the quick charger connector and the PHEV-ECU connector.
Is the check result normal?
Check the quick charger. Then go to Step 5
Repair the connector or wiring harness.
 
STEP 5. Retest the system.
Is the check result normal?
The procedure is complete.
Replace the PHEV-ECU (Refer to ).
