DTC U116A: CHG-CAN Bus-off
DTC U116B: Quick Charger CHG-CAN timeout

caution
  • If there is any problem in the CAN bus lines, an incorrect DTC may be set. Prior to this diagnosis, diagnose the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C - CAN Bus Diagnostics Table ).
  • Whenever ECU is replaced, ensure that the CAN bus lines are normal.

DTC SET CONDITIONS
The PHEV-ECU set the DTC U116A or U116B when any of the malfunctions occurs in the local CAN for quick charging (Chg-CAN).

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of the quick charger.
  • Malfunction of the local CAN for quick charging (Chg-CAN).
  • Malfunction of the PHEV-ECU.

DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools
  • MB991223: Wiring harness set
  • MB992006: Extra fine probe
STEP 1. Check the signal line for open circuit, short to ground circuit and short to power supply circuit (Quick charger and PHEV-ECU).
Check the wiring harness quick charger connector (terminals No.9, 8) and PHEV-ECU connector (terminals CNEL, CNEH).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the connector or wiring harness.

STEP 2. Resistance measurement at the PHEV-ECU connector.
(1)
cautionAlways use a digital multimeter to check a resistance as an accurate value must be measured.
Remove the PHEV-ECU connector, and measure at the component side.
(2)
cautionStrictly observe the specified wiring harness repair procedure.
Resistance between the PHEV-ECU connector (terminal CNEH, CNEL) and body ground.
OK: 120 ± 20 Ω
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Replace the PHEV-ECU (Refer to ).

STEP 3. Quick charging connector check.
Is the check result normal?
Check the quick charger.
Repair the connector.
