DTC U0126: SAS CAN timeout

caution
  • If there is any problem in the CAN bus lines, an incorrect DTC may be set. Prior to this diagnosis, diagnose the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C - CAN Bus Diagnostics Table ).
  • Whenever ECU is replaced, ensure that the CAN bus lines are normal.
  • Whenever the steering wheel sensor is replaced, always calibrate the sensor (Refer to GROUP 35C - Steering Wheel Calibration ). Then make the steering wheel sensor learn the compensation which the PHEV-ECU has stored (Item: Initialization, Item No. 3: Steering Angle Offset Reset ).

DTC SET CONDITIONS
The PHEV-ECU sets DTC U0126 when it cannot communicate with the steering wheel sensor via CAN correctly.

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of CAN bus line.
  • Malfunction of the PHEV-ECU.
  • The power supply to the steering wheel sensor fails.
  • Malfunction of the steering wheel sensor.

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), diagnose CAN bus line.
Use the scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) to diagnose the CAN bus lines.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting ). On completion, go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the DTC is set again.
Recheck the DTC.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
(3) Turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
(4) Check the DTC.
Is the DTC set?
Go to Step 3.
The procedure is complete.

STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the other DTC is set.
Check whether the ASC-ECU sets a steering wheel sensor-related DTC (Refer to GROUP 35C - Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart ).
Is the DTC set?
Troubleshoot for the relevant DTC.
Go to Step 4.

STEP 4.
Replace the PHEV-ECU (Refer to ).
The procedure is complete.
