DTC P10DC: Engine/Generator fail

cautionWhenever ECU is replaced, ensure that the CAN bus lines are normal.

DTC SET CONDITIONS
The PHEV-ECU sets DTC P10DC when the engine or the generator fails.

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of the engine.
  • Malfunction of the ECM.
  • Malfunction of the generator.
  • Malfunction of the power drive unit (GCU).
  • Malfunction of the PHEV-ECU.

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the other DTC is set.
Check whether the PHEV-ECU sets a DTC which is related to the MPI system or the power drive unit (GCU).
Is the DTC set?
Diagnose the system according to the set DTC.
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the other DTC is set.
Check whether the MPI system related DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Diagnose the MPI system (Refer to GROUP 13A - Troubleshooting, Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart ).
Whenever this DTC is set but no DTCs are set in the ECM, check whether the MPI system starts and stops the engine properly (Refer to GROUP 13A - Troubleshooting, Symptom Chart ) (Even if the engine cannot be started, cranking continues for approximately 20 seconds after cranking starts; in this state the engine is not started). Then go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check of peak torque limiter.
After turning off the ignition switch, check whether the engine starts or not.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Replace the peak torque limiter (Refer to GROUP 11B - Balancer Chain Removal and Installation ).

STEP 4. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the DTC is set again.
Recheck the DTC.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
(3) Depress the brake pedal, and turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch (READY operation)*.
note*: When a DTC is set, you cannot make the READY (ready to drive) indicator illuminate by making the READY operation.
(4) Run the engine.
(5) Stop the engine.
(6) Check the DTC.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the PHEV-ECU (Refer to ).
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
