DTC B2350: Lighting switch
DTC B2351: Wiper switch

cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

TROUBLE JUDGMENT
  • The ETACS-ECU receives the signals related to lighting and wiper/washer from the column switch. If the fail information data is included in the signal from column switch, DTC B2350 (malfunction of lighting switch) or B2351 (malfunction of wiper/washer switch) is set.
  • The steering wheel sensor is incorporated in the column switch assembly. When you replace the switch, you must always calibrate the sensor to make the ASC-ECU learn the neutral position of the steering wheel (Refer to GROUP 35C - On-vehicle service - Steering wheel sensor calibration ).

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
The column switch or the ETACS-ECU may have a problem.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The column switch (integrated with the column-ECU) may be defective
  • The ETACS-ECU may be defective

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), Check whether the diagnostic trouble code is set again.
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect Scan Tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Press the electric motor switch to turn on the power supply mode.
(3) Erase the DTC.
(4) Press the electric motor switch to turn the power supply mode from "OFF" to "ON."
(5) Check if the DTC B2350 or B2351 is set.
Is the DTC set?
Go to Step 2.
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), Check whether the diagnostic trouble code is set again.
Check again if the DTC is set in the ETACS-ECU.
(1) Replace the column switch (with built-in column-ECU).
(2) Press the electric motor switch to turn on the power supply mode.
(3) Erase the DTC.
(4) Press the electric motor switch to turn the power supply mode from "OFF" to "ON."
(5) Check if DTC is set.
Is the DTC set again?
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
The diagnosis is complete.
