Inspection Procedure 4: The image is not switched when the selector lever is moved to the R position.
 
 
 
 
COMMENT ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
When the monitor screen is not switched although the selector lever is moved to the "R" position, the selector lever signal system may be defective.
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The camera-ECU may be defective
  • The CAN bus may be defective
  • The wiring harness or connectors may have loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), diagnose the CAN bus line.
Use the scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) to diagnose the CAN bus lines.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting ).
 
STEP 2. Check the operation of the back-up light.
Check that the back-up light illuminate normally.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Troubleshoot the back-up light.
 
STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check data list.
Using the camera-ECU data list.
  • Electric motor switch: ON position
  • Operate the selector lever.

STEP 4. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the ETACS DTC.
Check whether the ETACS-ECU DTCs are set or not.
Is the DTC set?
Diagnose the ETACS-ECU (Refer to ).
Go to Step 5.
 
STEP 5. Retest the system.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the camera-ECU (Refer to ).
