Inspection Procedure 1: Power supply circuit check
Inspection Procedure 2: The odometer and the trip meter are not displayed.
Inspection Procedure 3: No needle meters work.
Inspection Procedure 4: If the electric motor switch is turned to ON, the indicator and warning lights do not illuminate normally.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
If the odometer and trip meter is not displayed or no needle meters work, power supply to the combination meter, or the combination meter itself may have a problem.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The wiring harness or connectors may have loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector
  • The combination meter may be defective

DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB991223: Harness Set
  • MB992006: Extra Fine Probe
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the combination meter DTC
Check if DTC is set in the combination meter.
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect the Scan Tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Press the electric motor switch to turn on the power supply mode.
(3) Check if DTC is set.
(4) Press the electric motor switch to turn off the power supply mode.
Is the DTC set?
Troubleshoot the combination meter (Refer to ).
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Voltage measurement at the combination meter connector
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Press the electric motor switch to turn off the power supply mode.
(3) Measure the voltage between the combination meter connector (B+B terminal) and ground.
OK: The voltage should measure approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check of open circuit in B+B line between the fusible link and combination meter connector.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Voltage measurement at the combination meter connector
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Press the electric motor switch to turn on the power supply mode.
(3) Measure the voltage between the combination meter connector (IG1 terminal) and ground.
OK: The voltage should measure approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 7.
Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check data list
Check the input signal from the OSS-ECU (IG1) signal in the ETACS-ECU.
  • Press the electric motor switch to turn on the power supply mode.

Item No.Item nameNormal condition
254IG voltageBattery positive voltage
OK: Normal condition is displayed.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 6.
: Troubleshoot the ETACS-ECU. Refer to Inspection Procedure 2 "The OSS-ECU (IG1) signal is not received." .

STEP 6. Check of open circuit in IG1 line between the OSS-ECU (IG1) and combination meter connector.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 7. Resistance measurement at the combination meter connector
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Measure the resistance between the combination meter connector (GND terminal) and ground.
OK: The resistance should be 2 ohms or less
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 9.
Go to Step 8.

STEP 8. Check of open circuit in GND line between combination meter connector and ground.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 9. Retest the system
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the combination meter.
