Inspection Procedure 3: SRS warning light does not illuminate.

CIRCUIT OPERATION
  • The SRS warning light illuminates when the turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch and goes out after approximately 6 to 8 seconds if there is not a malfunction in the SRS system.
  • SRS-ECU sends the SRS warning light signal to the combination meter via the CAN communication.
  • As a cause, the failure of CAN bus line, combination meter, or SRS-ECU is suspected.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors
  • Combination meter malfunction
  • Malfunction of SRS-ECU

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), diagnose the CAN bus line.
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect the scan tool ."
(2) Turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
(3) Diagnose the CAN bus line.
(4) Turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
Is the CAN bus line found to be normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C, Diagnosis ).

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), actuator test
Use scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) to perform the SRS-ECU actuator tests.
Item No. 01: SRS warning lamp
Does the SRS warning light turn on and off normally?
Go to Step 5.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), actuator test
Use scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) to perform the combination meter actuator tests.
Item No.07: Indicator1
Does the SRS warning light turn on and off normally?
Replace SRS-ECU (Refer to ).
Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check of short to power supply, short to ground, and open circuit in IG1 line between ETACS-ECU connector and combination meter connector
Is the check result normal?
Replace the combination meter (Refer to GROUP 54A - Combination Meter ).
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 5. Recheck of the SRS warning light
(1) Connect the negative battery terminal.
(2) Electric motor switch: ON
Does the light illuminate?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Return to Step 1.
