Inspection Procedure A-10: Easy closer system and power liftgate automatic operation (open) work with the door locked.
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.
 
 
 
 
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
The central door locking or the power liftgate control unit may have a problem.
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of central door locking
  • Damaged power liftgate control unit
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Check the operation of the central door locking system.
Check that the doors can be locked and unlocked normally when the door lock key cylinder or the door lock inside knob is operated.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Refer to Trouble Symptom Chart .
 
STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), diagnose the CAN bus line.

cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn the electric motor switch to the OFF position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Turn the electric motor switch to ON.
(3) Diagnose the CAN bus line.
(4) Turn the electric motor switch to OFF.
Is the CAN bus line found to be normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C, Diagnosis ).
 
STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the other system diagnostic trouble code.
Check if any DTC is set in the ETACS-ECU.

cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn the electric motor switch to the OFF position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Turn the electric motor switch to ON.
(3) Check if DTC is set.
(4) Turn the electric motor switch to OFF.
Is the DTC set?
Perform troubleshooting for the ETACS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 54A - ETACS-ECU - Troubleshooting ).
Go to Step 4.
 
STEP 4. Check of the troubles
Check that the automatic operations of easy closer system and power liftgate work normally.
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction .)
Replace the power liftgate control unit.
