Inspection Procedure A-7: Power liftgate automatic operation does not work normally by the operation of keyless operation key (for both open and close operations).
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.
 
 
 
 
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
The keyless operation key or the power liftgate control unit may be defective.
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of keyless operation key
  • Damaged power liftgate control unit
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Keyless entry system operation check
Check that the door lock/unlock is performed when the keyless operation key is operated.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Refer to GROUP 42B - Trouble Symptom Chart <KOS-ECU> .
 
STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), diagnose the CAN bus line.

cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn the electric motor switch to the OFF position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Turn the electric motor switch to ON.
(3) Diagnose the CAN bus line.
(4) Turn the electric motor switch to OFF.
Is the CAN bus line found to be normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C, Diagnosis ).
 
STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the other system diagnostic trouble code.
Check if any DTC is set in the ETACS-ECU.

cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn the electric motor switch to the OFF position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Turn the electric motor switch to ON.
(3) Check if DTC is set.
(4) Turn the electric motor switch to OFF.
Is the DTC set?
Perform troubleshooting for the ETACS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 54A - ETACS-ECU - Troubleshooting ).
Go to Step 4.
 
STEP 4: Check of the troubles using the normal keyless operation key
(1) Register the keyless operation key which operates the power liftgate normally.
(2) Check whether the power liftgate works normally.
Is the check result normal?
Replace the keyless operation key.
Go to Step 5.
 
STEP 5. Check of the troubles
Check whether the power liftgate works normally.
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction .)
Replace the power liftgate control unit.
