  • MD998304: Oil seal installer

DISASSEMBLY SERVICE POINT

<<A>> ELECTRICAL PARKING ACTUATOR REMOVAL
1.
caution
  • Do not touch the air breather.
  • When removing the O-ring and actuator, be careful not to cause damage.
Remove the electrical parking actuator from the front transaxle.

<<B>> VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY REMOVAL
1.
caution
  • Do not separate the valve body assembly by twisting it.
  • Place the removed valve body assembly (with the mating side downwards) on a clean flat surface to prevent entry of dust and dirt.
Some of the ATF remains in the valve body chamber. Place a pan under the valve body to collect it.
2. Remove the valve body assembly, making sure you do not damage it.

REASSEMBLY SERVICE POINT

>>A<< PISTON SEAL INSTALLATION
1.
caution
  • Do not re-use the piston seal.
  • Do not expand the piston seal wider than necessary.
  • If the piston seal is excessively adrift after the installation, replace it with new one.
Install the piston seal as shown.
2. The notches must be positioned as shown.

>>B<< VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION
1.
cautionWhen the valve body assembly is removed, refill the ATF into the valve body chamber (Refer to GROUP 22A - Transaxle Fluid Change ).
Align the flat surfaces on the oil pump drive with these on the transaxle to install the valve body assembly.

2.
caution
  • Do not re-use the gasket.
  • Ensure that the contact surface on the valve body is free of contamination and grease. (Wipe it off with a lint-free cloth)
Install two bolts of another shank length in two positions shown to position the valve assembly and the gasket.
3. Align the flat surfaces on the oil pump drive with these on the transaxle to install the valve body assembly.
4. Tighten the two bolts to push in the valve body assembly.
5. Tighten the other bolts by hand.
6. Remove the temporarily installed bolts with original ones.
7. Tighten the mounting bolt to the specified torque of 9.0 ± 2.0 N·m (80 ± 17 in-lb) .
noteTighten the bolts diagonally and evenly.

>>C<< ELECTRICAL PARKING ACTUATOR INSTALLATION
1.
caution
  • Do not touch the air breather.
  • When removing the O-ring and actuator, be careful not to cause damage.
Apply ATF to the O-ring.
2. Engage the spline to install the electrical parking actuator to the front transaxle.

>>D<< OIL SEAL INSTALLATION
1.
caution
  • Drive in the oil seal until it flushes with the case end.
  • Make sure that the oil seal lip does not touch the spline.
2. Using the special tool crankshaft front oil seal installer (MD998304), install the oil seal on the front transaxle.

>>E<< OIL SEAL INSTALLATION
cautionDrive in the oil seal until it flushes with the case end.
1. Using the special tool oil seal installer (MD998800), install the oil seal on the front transaxle.
2. Apply ATF to the oil seal lip.
