ELECTRONIC CONTROL COUPLING (CENTER) OPERATION CHECK <VEHICLES WITH S-AWC>

Before connecting or disconnecting M.U.T.-III, always turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (OFF) position.
A tight corner braking phenomenon occurs when the electronic control coupling (Front) fails. Ensure that the electronic control coupling (Front) is in good condition.

Connect M.U.T.-III to the data link connector (Refer to GROUP 23A - Diagnostic Function

2. Start the engine.

3. Position the steering wheel in a straight ahead direction.

4. Execute "Test" (item No. 6 Center coupling operation check) on M.U.T.-III special function to activate the electronic-controlled coupling.

note

The forced activation (item No. 6 Center coupling operation check) is continued for 1 minute, then it will be cancelled automatically. Also, using the clear key on the M.U.T.-III, the activation can be forcibly cancelled.
When the functions are suspended by the fail-safe function, the electronic control coupling cannot be forcibly activated.

5. Turn the steering wheel 360° or more clockwise or counterclockwise, move the selector lever to the D range (1st), and start the vehicle slowly. The vehicle should hesitate to move. This phenomenon is called as "tight corner braking".

note	The occurrence level of the body vibration and noise depends on the condition of tires and roads. If the tight corner braking does not occur, the system may have abnormality. Check the AWC-ECU.
