INSPECTION PROCEDURE 5: Ignition-linked fold/unfold function does not work normally.
 
 
caution
  • Before replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
  • When the ETACS-ECU of vehicles without KOS is replaced, the encrypted code of the ignition key needs to be registered to the ETACS-ECU (If the encrypted code is not registered, the engine cannot be started. Register the encrypted code as described in GROUP 54A, Immobilizer System - How to Register Key ID ).
 
 
CIRCUIT OPERATION
The ETACS-ECU operates this function in accordance with the input signals below.
  • Ignition switch (IG1)
  • Door switch (Front: RH)
 
 
 
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
If this function does not work normally, these input signal circuit(s) or the ETACS-ECU may be defective. Also, with the customization function, the door mirrors may be set to a mode in which the ignition linked fold/unfold function is not activated.
 
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of the driver's door switch
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors
 
 
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB991223: Harness Set
  • MB992006: Extra Fine Probe
STEP 1. Check the ETACS customization function.
Use the ETACS customization function to confirm that "Auto fold mirror" is set to "Open/Close by IG".
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Use the ETACS customization function to set "Auto fold mirror" to "Open/Close by IG" (Refer to ).
 
STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check data list.
Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the ETACS system data list (Refer to GROUP 54A, ETACS - Troubleshooting, Data List Reference Table ).
  • Item 79: IG voltage
  • Item 81: Driver's door ajar switch
Is the check result normal?
: Go to Step 3.
: GROUP 54A, ETACS - Inspection Procedure 2 "The ignition switch (IG1) signal is not received" .
: GROUP 54A, ETACS - Inspection Procedure 5 "The front door switch (driver's side) signal is not received" .
 
STEP 3. Retest the system.
Check that the ignition-liked fold/unfold function for the door mirrors works normally.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
