DTC U1168 TCU CAN timeout <Vehicles with TCU>
 
 
caution
  • If DTC U1168 is set, be sure to diagnose the CAN bus line.
  • Before replacing ECU, ensure that the communication circuit is normal.
 
 
DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
When the signal from the TCU cannot be received, KOS&OSS-ECU sets DTC U1168.
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of CAN bus line
  • Malfunction of the TCU
  • Malfunction of the KOS&OSS-ECU
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), diagnose the CAN bus line
Use scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) to diagnose the CAN bus lines.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C - Diagnosis ).
 
STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the other system DTC.
Check if DTC is set in the TCU.
Is the DTC set?
Perform troubleshooting for the TCU (Refer to GROUP 54A - MITSUBISHI CONNECT Safeguard & Remote Services - Diagnosis ).
Go to Step 3.
 
STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the other system DTC.
Check if DTC U1168 is set in the ETACS.
Is the DTC set?
Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 5.
 
STEP 4. Check whether the DTC is set again.
Recheck if the DTC is set in the KOS&OSS-ECU.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch from "OFF" to "ON."
(3) Check if the DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the TCU (Refer to GROUP 54A - MITSUBISHI CONNECT Safeguard & Remote Services - TCU ).
A poor connection, open circuit or other intermittent malfunction is present in the CAN bus lines between the TCU and the KOS&OSS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
 
STEP 5. Check whether the DTC is set again.
Recheck if the DTC is set.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch from "OFF" to "ON."
(3) Check if the DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Replace KOS&OSS-ECU and register the ID codes (Refer to ).
A poor connection, open circuit or other intermittent malfunction is present in the CAN bus lines between the TCU and the KOS&OSS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
