DTC U1073 Bus-off
 
 
caution
  • If there is any problem in the CAN bus lines, an incorrect DTC may be set. Prior to this diagnosis, diagnose the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C, CAN Bus Diagnostics Table ).
  • Whenever ECU is replaced, ensure that the CAN bus lines are normal.
 
 
OPERATION
EPS-ECU communicate with other ECUs through CAN communication.
 
 
 
FUNCTION
EPS-ECU monitors the CAN communication.
 
 
 
TROUBLE JUDGMENT
Check Conditions
  • Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
Judgment Criterion
  • The signals from the EPS-ECU cannot communicate (bus off), and the microcomputer determines that there is a problem in the system.
Fail Safe, Back Up Function
  • The EPS-ECU illuminates the power steering warning symbol and sets DTC U1073.
 
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of CAN bus line
  • Malfunction of the EPS motor (EPS-ECU)
 
 
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), diagnose the CAN bus line.
Diagnose the CAN bus line.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C - CAN-Related Diagnosis Code Table ).
 
STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the DTC is set again.
(1) Erase the DTC code.
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
(3) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position (Engine running).
Is the DTC set?
Replace the EPS motor (EPS-ECU). (Refer to ).
