DTC P2764: Malfunction of the Lock-up Solenoid Valve (low input)

DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
If a predetermined current does not flow into the lock-up solenoid valve (short to ground), the TCM will determine the system is defective.

DESCRIPTIONS OF MONITOR METHODS
The solenoid valve drive circuit remains short to ground for 0.48 seconds.

MONITOR EXECUTION
  • Voltage of battery: 10 volts or more.

MONITOR EXECUTION CONDITIONS (OTHER MONITOR AND SENSOR)
Other Monitor (There is no temporary DTC stored in memory for the item monitored below)
  • P0715: Malfunction of primary pulley speed sensor
  • P0720: Malfunction of secondary pulley speed sensor
  • P2765: Malfunction of turbine speed sensor
Sensor (The sensor below is determined to be normal)
  • Primary pulley speed sensor
  • Secondary pulley speed sensor
  • Turbine speed sensor

LOGIC FLOW CHARTS (Monitor Sequence)

DTC SET CONDITIONS
Check Conditions
  • Voltage of battery: 10 volts or more.
Judgment Criteria
  • Lock-up solenoid valve actual current: 1.78 A or more (0.5 seconds).

OBD-II DRIVE CYCLE PATTERN
The vehicle is driven for at least 5 seconds at the speed of 20 km/h (13 mph) or more.

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of the valve body assembly (Faulty lock-up solenoid valve)
  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors
  • Malfunction of TCM

DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools
  • MB992006: Extra fine probe
STEP 1. Check for short to ground in LULS line between the CVT assembly connector and the TCM connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the connector(s) or the wiring harness.

STEP 2. Lock-up solenoid valve check.
Refer to .
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check for short to ground in power supply line between the CVT assembly connector and the valve body harness connector (lock-up solenoid valve line).
Refer to .
Is the check result normal?
Replace the valve body assembly (Refer to ).
Replace the valve body harness (Refer to ).

STEP 4. Symptom recheck after erasing diagnostic trouble code.
Is the diagnostic trouble code set?
Replace the TCM.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
