DTC P0622: LIN Communication Error (generator)

CIRCUIT OPERATION
The energized state of the generator field coil is inputted from the generator connector terminal C to the ECM connector terminal LNBS via the Local Interconnect Network (LIN).

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
  • A signal of the power supply duty ratio for the generator field coil is inputted to the ECM.
  • In response to the signal, the ECM detects the generator output current and controls the idling speed according to the output current (electric load).

DTC SET CONDITIONS
Check Conditions
  • After 2 seconds since the ignition switch is turned ON or since the completion of engine start.
  • Battery positive voltage is more than 10 volts and is less than 16.5 volts.
Judgment Criteria
  • The ECM cannot receive the data from the generator.
or
  • The generator cannot receive the data from the ECM.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
  • Prohibits generator output suppression control against current consumers (operates as a normal generator).

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (The most likely causes for this code to be set are: )
  • Generator failed.
  • Open/shorted generator circuit, harness damage or connector damage.
  • ECM failed.

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Check of short to ground, open circuit and harness damage in LNBS line between generator connector and ECM connector.
Is the harness wire in good condition?
Go to Step 2.
Repair it. Then go to Step 4.

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-IIISE) .
(2) Start the engine and run at idle.
(3) After the DTC has been deleted, read the DTC again.
(4) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Is DTC P0622 set?
Go to Step 3.
It can be assumed that this malfunction is intermittent. Refer to GROUP 00, How to Use Troubleshooting/ Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions .

STEP 3. Replace the generator.
(1) Replace the generator.
(2) Start the engine and run at idle.
(3) After the DTC has been deleted, read the DTC again.
(4) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Is DTC P0622 set?
Replace the ECM (Refer to Removal and Installation ). Then go to Step 4.
The inspection is complete.

STEP 4. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
(1) Start the engine and run at idle.
(2) After the DTC has been deleted, read the DTC again.
(3) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Is DTC P0622 set?
Retry the troubleshooting.
The inspection is complete.
