DTC U0151: SRS-ABG CAN Timeout

caution
  • If DTC U0151 is set, be sure to diagnose the CAN main bus line.
  • When replacing the ECU, always check that the communication circuit is normal.

TROUBLE JUDGMENT
Check Conditions
  • Ignition switch: ON
Judgment Criterion
  • If signal from the SRS-ECU transmitted via CAN bus line cannot be received for 2500 ms or more.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The CAN bus line may be defective
  • The SRS-ECU may be defective
  • The power supply circuit of the SRS-ECU may be defective
  • The ETACS-ECU may be defective
  • The TCU may be defective

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), diagnose CAN bus line.
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect the Scan Tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(3) Diagnose the CAN bus line.
(4) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Is the CAN bus line found to be normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting - CAN Bus Diagnostics Table ).

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the DTC is set.
Check if DTC U0141 is set in TCU.
Is the DTC set?
Troubleshoot DTC U0141 (Refer to ).
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the ETACS DTC is set.
Check if DTC U0151 is set in ETACS-ECU.
Is the DTC set?
Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 5.

STEP 4. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the DTC is set again.
Check again if the DTC is set in the TCU.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Turn the ignition switch from OFF position to ON position.
(3) Check the DTC.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the SRS-ECU.
A poor connection, open circuit or other intermittent malfunction is present in the CAN bus lines between the SRS-ECU and the TCU (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

STEP 5.
Replace the TCU (Refer to ).
A poor connection, open circuit or other intermittent malfunction is present in the CAN bus lines between the SRS-ECU and the TCU (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
