Inspection Procedure 1: Power of the multivision display does not turn ON when the ignition switch is in the "ACC" position or "ON" position.
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the multivision display, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
 
 
OPERATION
When the ignition switch is in the ON or ACC position, the multivision display power can be turned ON. With the multivision display power ON, when the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position, the power for multivision display is also turned OFF.
 
 
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
Provided that the audio DTC is not set, if the power for multivision display cannot be turned ON, the multivision display, or power supply circuit for multivision display may have a problem.
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The multivision display may be defective
  • The wiring harness or connectors may have loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB991223: Harness Set
  • MB992006: Extra Fine Probe
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check data list.

cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect Scan Tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Check the input signal of ACC relay.
  • Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.

OK: Normal condition is displayed.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Refer to ETACS - Input Signal Procedure 1 "The ignition switch (ACC) signal is not sent to the ETACS-ECU ."
 
STEP 2. Check of short to power supply, short to ground, and open circuit in ACC line between multivision display connector and ETACS-ECU connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 3. Voltage measurement at multivision display connector (+B terminal).
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Check the voltage between the multivision display connector (+B terminal) and ground.
OK: The voltage should measure approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Go to Step 4.
 
STEP 4. Check of short to ground, and open circuit +B2 line between fusible link and multivision display connector.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the wiring harness.
 
STEP 5. Resistance measurement at multivision display connector (GND terminal).
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Check the continuity between the multivision display connector (GND terminal) and ground.
OK: The resistance should be 2 ohms or less
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 7.
Go to Step 6.
 
STEP 6. Check of open circuit in GND or GND2 line between multivision display connector and ground.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the wiring harness.
 
STEP 7. Retest the system.
Check if the multivision display power is turned ON.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the multivision display (Refer to ).
