STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the DTC.
Check if DTC is set in the combination meter.(1) caution | To prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). |
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect the Scan Tool (M.U.T.-IIISE)
."
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(3) Check the DTC.
Is the DTC set?
Troubleshoot the combination meter. Refer to . Go to Step 2.
STEP 2. Voltage measurement at the combination meter connector
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Measure the voltage between the combination meter connector (B+B terminal) and the body ground.OK: The voltage should measure approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4. Go to Step 3.
STEP 3. Check of short to power supply circuit in B+B line between the fusible link and combination meter connector.
STEP 4. Voltage measurement at the combination meter connector
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(3) Measure the voltage between the combination meter connector (IG1 terminal) and the body ground.OK: The voltage should measure approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 7. Go to Step 5.
STEP 5. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check data list.
Check the input signal from the ignition switch (IG1) in the ETACS-ECU.- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
| Item No. | Item name | Normal condition | 79 | IG voltage | Battery positive voltage |
|
Item No. | Item name | Normal condition |
79 | IG voltage | Battery positive voltage |
OK: Normal condition is displayed.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 6. : Troubleshoot the ETACS-ECU. Refer to Inspection Procedure 2 "The ignition switch (IG1) signal is not received." .
STEP 6. Check of short to power supply circuit in IG1 line between the ignition switch (IG1) and combination meter connector.
STEP 7. Resistance measurement at the combination meter connector
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Measure the resistance between the combination meter connector (GND terminal) and the body ground.OK: The resistance should be 2 ohms or less
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 9. Go to Step 8.
STEP 8. Check of short to ground circuit in GND line between combination meter connector and body ground.
STEP 9. Retest the system
