Inspection Procedure 6: Keyless entry system-linked fold/unfold function does not work normally.
 
 
caution
  • Before replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
  • When the ETACS-ECU of vehicles without KOS is replaced, the encrypted code of the ignition key needs to be registered to the ETACS-ECU (If the encrypted code is not registered, the engine cannot be started. Register the encrypted code as described in GROUP 54A, Immobilizer System - How to Register Key ID ).
 
 
CIRCUIT OPERATION
The ETACS-ECU operates this function in accordance with the keyless entry transmitter input signals.
 
 
 
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
If this function does not work normally, keyless entry transmitter input signal circuit or the ETACS-ECU may be defective. Also, with the customization function, the door mirrors may be set other than to the keyless entry linked fold/unfold function.
 
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Defective keyless entry transmitter
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors
 
 
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB991223: Harness Set
  • MB992006: Extra Fine Probe
STEP 1. Check the ETACS customization function.
Use the ETACS customization function to confirm that "Auto fold mirror" is set to "OPN/CLS Keyless".
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Use the ETACS customization function to set "Auto fold mirror" to "OPN/CLS Keyless" (Refer to ).
 
STEP 2. Check the keyless entry operation.
Check that the keyless entry system works normally.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Refer to GROUP 42A, Keyless Entry System - Inspection Procedure 1 "Keyless entry system does not work." <Vehicles without keyless operation system> or GROUP 42B, KOS - Inspection Procedure 11 "Keyless entry function does not work." <Vehicles with keyless operation system> .
 
STEP 3. Retest the system.
Check that the keyless entry linked fold/unfold function for the door mirrors works normally.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
