Inspection Procedure 12: Keyless operation tone alarm does not sound.

cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

OPERATION
The keyless operation tone alarm sounds under the following conditions.
  • When the door is locked or unlocked with the keyless entry or keyless operation function
  • Door lock does not operate.
  • The keyless operation key is brought out of the vehicle.
  • Also, with a customization function, "Buzzer answerback" may be set to "Not Sound Buzzer".

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of the keyless operation tone alarm
  • Malfunction of the KOS&OSS-ECU
  • Malfunction of the connector
  • Function setting error or no setting with a customization

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the DTC.
Check if any DTC is set in the KOS&OSS-ECU.
Is the DTC set?
Refer to diagnostic trouble code chart .
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the other system DTC.
Check if any DTC is set in the ETACS-ECU.
Is the DTC set?
Perform troubleshooting for the ETACS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 54A - ETACS - Diagnosis ).
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check the customization
With a customization function, check if "Buzzer answerback" is set to other than "Not Sound Buzzer".
Is it set to other than "Not Sound Buzzer"?
Go to Step 4.
With a customization function, "Buzzer answerback" is set to other than "Not Sound Buzzer" (Refer to ).

STEP 4. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the actuator test
Check that the keyless operation tone alarm sounds (Refer to ).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 8.
Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Resistance measurement at keyless operation tone alarm connector (ground line)
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Measure the resistance between the keyless operation tone alarm connector (ground line) and body ground.
OK: The resistance should be 2 ohms or less
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 7.
Go to Step 6.

STEP 6. Check of open circuit in ground line between the keyless operation tone alarm connector and the body ground.
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 7. Check of short to power supply, short to ground or open circuit in DRVB line between the keyless operation tone alarm connector and the KOS&OSS-ECU connector terminal.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 8.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 8. Check of the troubles
Replace keyless operation tone alarm. After the replacement, check that the keyless operation tone alarm sounds when the keyless operation tone alarm sounding conditions are met.
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace KOS&OSS-ECU and register the ID codes (Refer to ).
