DTC C1521 Motor rotation angle sensor failure 1
DTC C1522 Motor rotation angle sensor failure 2

caution
  • If there is any problem in the CAN bus lines, an incorrect DTC may be set. Prior to this diagnosis, diagnose the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C, CAN Bus Diagnostics Table ).
  • Whenever ECU is replaced, ensure that the CAN bus lines are normal.

OPERATION
Power is supplied to the motor rotating angle sensor from the EPS-ECU.

FUNCTION
The EPS-ECU receives information on the motor rotation angle from the motor rotation angle sensor. When judging that the information is abnormal, sets these DTCs.

TROUBLE JUDGMENT
Check Conditions
  • The power supply circuit system DTC (C1540, C1541) is not set.
Judgment Criterion
  • The motor rotating angle sensor output voltage does not meet a predetermined voltage stored in the microcomputer, and the microcomputer determines that there is a problem in the motor rotating angle sensor.
Fail Safe, Back Up Function
  • The EPS-ECU limits or stops the motor control and illuminates the electric power steering warning display, then sets DTC C1521 and C1522.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of the EPS-ECU

DIAGNOSIS
1. Check whether the DTC is set again.
2. Replace the EPS-ECU (Refer to ).
