DTC U119A: VIN code mismatch
 
 
caution
  • If diagnostic trouble code No. U119A is stored, diagnose the CAN bus lines.
  • When replacing the ECU, always check that the SRS circuit is normal.
 
 
DTC SET CONDITION
SRS-ECU stores DTC U119A when chassis number registered in it and VIN that has been transmitted on the CAN bus do not match.
 
 
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
SRS-ECU determines that the abnormality is present when VIN registered in it and the one that has been transmitted on the CAN bus do not match.
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of SRS-ECU (SRS-ECU being registered to another vehicle)
  • Malfunction of engine control module (VIN registered in engine control module unmatched)
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Check the VIN registered in the engine control module and the VIN of the vehicle.
Check if the VIN registered in the engine control module with the VIN of the vehicle.
(1) On the system selection screen of the scan tool (M.U.T.-III), select "MFI/GDI/Diesel".
(2) Select "Coding."
(3) Select "VIN Information."
(4) Compare with the VIN of the vehicle.
Does the VIN of the engine control module match with the VIN of the vehicle?
Go to Step 2.
Write the VIN to the engine control module. [Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Perform Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Writing ]. Record VIN and go to Step 2.
 
STEP 2. Recheck for diagnostic trouble code.
Check again if the DTC is stored in the SRS-ECU.
(1) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(2) Check if the DTC is stored.
Is the DTC stored?
Replace SRS-ECU, go to Step 3.
The procedure is complete.
 
STEP 3. Recheck for diagnostic trouble code.
Check again if the DTC is stored in the SRS-ECU.
(1) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(2) Check if the DTC is stored.
Is the DTC stored?
Replace the engine control module and record the VIN [Refer to GROUP 00 - How To Perform Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Writing ].
The procedure is complete.
